Suede are usually regarded as the founders of the Britpop movement with their debut single, The Drowners, which earned the band a great deal of attention from the music press. This, their debut album, confirmed that they’d earned such attention, becoming one of the fastest-selling debut albums in British history. Suede’s sound has been compared to that of the Smiths as well as David Bowie, with many critics drawing attention to Brett Anderson’s dark and bleak depictions of British society.
Suede is the debut album by English alternative rock band Suede, released in March 1993 on Nude Records. It was recorded in London at Master Rock studios late 1992 and early 1993 and was produced by Ed Buller. At the time the fastest-selling debut album in British history in almost a decade, Suede debuted at the top of the UK Albums Chart, won the 1993 Mercury Music Prize, and is often cited as one of the first Britpop records.
Suede are working-class lads striving for glamour, and they achieve it by piecing together remnants of the past with pieces of the present, never forgetting the value of a strong hook in the process. And while the sound of Suede frequently recalls the peak of glam rock, its punk-influenced passion and self-conscious appropriation of the past make it thoroughly postmodern. Coincidentally, its embrace of trashy pop helped usher in an era of Britpop, but few bands captured the theatrical melancholy that gave Suede such resonance.
I still notice a great deal of remaining color on my lips, but I just wanted you to see that they're not transfer-resistant. And if you happen to be eating anything that might be the slightest bit moist- things can get a little messy. It almost re-liquifies the product slightly. These feel INCREDIBLY light and creamy. While the swatches below look shiny- they actually do dry a little on the lips and cheeks (my photo was taken right after they were applied). They end up having a somewhat velvety feel - they're just so unique. They're easy to blend onto the cheeks with fingers or a brush.
Doll up your lips in plush and vibrant color! NYX Professional Makeup's Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick glides on and sets into a striking matte finish. Velvety soft and waterproof, this long-lasting lippie creates a positively polished look with every swipe. NYX Jet Set is a rich true blue liquid lipstick. It goes on smooth and creamy and sets to a beautiful satin-matte finish. But within an hour, in which I didn't do anything that would cause most lipsticks to break down, it started cracking at every wrinkle in my lips, making each wrinkle show up pink against the blue lipstick. It didn't feel particularly dry, oddly enough. Being a liquid lipstick, it would need to be completely removed and reapplied, as touch-ups don't work.
