Attachment EP. Cat No: CDS:003 Label: PAN x Codes Genre: GRIME, FWD. Free MP3 with vinyl. A compelling debut by any measure, the Attachment EP distills and refracts "field and browser" recordings in a sharply defined yet plasmic flow of distorted reality that feels akin to flossing your swede with a binary-coded silk tapestry. The result of four years in the works, it’s based on the notion tha. aking an instinctual interpretation of information potentially warps and distorts reality.
The third release from Codes, Ling's Attachment EP, sounds like it took a long time to make. Its most sentimental track, "44 Blue," is decorated with innumerable little whirring, chirping, wheezing strokes of sound design. These crackling data clouds hover over screwed-up drums and thick sub-bass, evoking a rap instrumental from the distant future. It recalls the "weightless" sound of grime producers like Logos or Mumdance, who have brought renewed interest in textural tinkering to club music.
