Swiping a page from the Cheater Slicks book on bad-mood rock, Brooklyn quartet Pampers unleash a torrential downpour of fiery, ticked-off sludge. reverb-drenched vocals and molten guitar are set to a furious punk pace on the band's 2013 self-titled debut on In the Red. And while Pampers are certainly not averse to a serious musical temper tantrum, the band also deftly weave into the meltdown touches of post-punk, psych, and even a memorable pop hook or four. Pampers feature a conventional two guitars/bass/drums lineup, but nearly always there seems to be something else happening below the surface, and the subsonic throb of bassist Jordan Lovelace and drummer Peter Buxton maintains a steady thud as guitarists Carl Cirone and John Kramer pour out layers of fuzz, feedback, noisy picking, and blunt slabs of sound. Cirone also tosses in some lo-fi keyboards and tape manipulation for good measure. Given the thick blanket of cacophony that cloaks these songs, it takes a few spins before you realize Pampers are a pretty tight outfit.
To digress in an extensive way. To divert the conversation to a topic that is not only unrelated to the topic at hand, but a topic that will likely have no immediate resolution either. That's an interesting discussion, but let's stay on track and not go down a rat-hole. by The Colonel July 18, 2003. 69. 26. Get a rat-hole mug for your cousin Sarah. Made famous by the TWIT podcast Macbreak Weekly, a rat hole is when a discussion follows a constant tangent and ends up with a topic that has nothing to do with the original discussion.
