Russell Coleman (3). Profile: Teacher, band director, conductor, arranger and clarinet player. Bachelor’s degree in clarinet performance from Kansas State University. Master’s degree from Indiana University. Doctorate from the University of Iowa. Band director at Marysville Public School, Marysville, Kansas. Director of bands at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. 1964-1996 Director of bands at University Of Central Missouri.

The Spirit of Independence Concert Band. Metropolitan Youth Orchestra and Sinfonia of Kansas City. Dance Prelude' by Missouri native Claude T. Smith, a piece we have performed in the past, will be conducted by guest conductor Dr. Russell Coleman, of whom conducted this piece when it was first commissioned for the Central Missouri State University Concert Band years ago! Also, 'Concerto for Alto Saxophone' will feature the winner of our 9th Annual Young Artist Solo Competition - Cooper Smith.

Superband was a mandopop supergroup formed by 4 veteran singers Lo Ta-yu, Jonathan Lee, Wakin Chau and Chang Chen-yue. The group was formed in 2008. In total they have released over 70 albums in their individual careers, 600 main compositions and more than 350 individual concerts. After giving twenty performances around the world, the band held their final concert in the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut, USA on Feb 22nd, 2010. Afterwards they resumed their individual careers.

The Missouri State Concert Band is open to all University students. Concert Band offers a creative and positive music-making environment for students of all majors and academic disciplines within the University. Concert Band creates a comfortable venue for students to enjoy making music as a diversion to their academic schedule while performing the best of the wind band repertoire. The Concert Band performs three concerts during the spring semester only. No Audition required. Rehearsals: Spring Semester - TR 2:00-3:50pm.

The band's first album in this incarnation is one of most momentous, with stunning remakes of "Django's Castle," "Bweebida Bobbida," and "Sweet And Slow. Zoot Sims entered the band late in the year, and those cuts include stellar and memorable readings of "Come Rain Or Come Shine," "Young Blood," and the preciously unreleased "As Catch Ca. Lewis remained with the band all the way until 1962, when he was replaced by Gus Johnson.
