Posthumous hip-hop albums tend to disregard dignity in favor of commercial gain. In that sense - and many others - Tupac Shakur: The Rose That Grew From Concrete, Volume I, a tribute to Tupac Shakur, is atypical. On it, musicians, actors, and producers come together in obvious reverence to record the rapper’s poetry as spoken-word performances, hip-hop rhymes, reggae grooves, and country ditties. The all-star list of performers includes Mos Def, Danny Glover, Q-Tip, Jasmine Guy, and Quincy Jones. The album leaves listeners assured of Shakur’s poetic gifts and saddened by his death
Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete? Proving nature's law is wrong it learned to walk with out having feet. Funny it seems, but by keeping it's dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air. Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared. Poems by Tupac Shakur : 10, 11. prev. Dear Fellow Reader, this is such a lovely poem and in particular, I wonder at its brilliance because Tupac Shakur did this with so little talk. Thank you, Gayathri B. Seetharam (Report) Reply.
