Complete your The Serpent Power collection. Many thought there would be much to follow and progressions to be made when Serpent Power (a seven piece band that often morphed into ten during live shows) released their first album in 1967, thinking that they might fly through the same lofty clouds as The Jefferson Airplane, after all, it was the folkish Surrealistic Pillow that gave The Airplanes their wing. ut.
The Serpent Power were an American psychedelic rock group active in the 1960s. n 1966, San Francisco-based poet David Meltzer and his wife Tina, who was a singer, recruited local musicians Clark Coolidge (drummer, also composer), Denny Ellis (lead guitarist), John Payne (keyboardist), Jean-Paul Pickens (banjo player) and David Stenson (bassist), and started playing gigs at clubs and events in the Bay area, such as the North Beach's Coffee Gallery, Gino & Carlo's, and others.

More than anything, Serpent Power recalls the spongy, low-key psychedelia of early-1990s ambient as formulated by Biosphere, Tetsu Inoue, and Pete Namlook, all artists who knew that an abiding sense of mystery was far more important than simple mood-setting. Most of these 10 tracks flow from one to the next, only increasing the album’s stickiness. Judén has described the album as a kind of digital detox, an attempt to escape the pixel-pocked logic of life online for something more like nature.

J’avais raté le premier album éponyme de ce projet parallèle de deux membres émérites d’une scène anglaise jamais avare en bonnes surprises, j’ai nommé Ian Skelly (de The Coral) et Paul Molloy (des Zutons)
