In 1941 Jim Gussey took over as leader when Jim Davidson (3) and seven of his musicians enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force. In 1969 the name was changed to The ABC Sydney Showband, a reflection of the fact that they were playing less dance music and more light styles of music. It was disbanded in 1976.
