The band have sold an estimated 75 million records worldwide and been cited by Guinness World Records as the most successful act in the United Kingdom between the years 1995 and 2005.

Oasis (2). Profile: Rock band from Burnage, Manchester, formed in 1991. In 2000, after a three year hiatus, two of the founding members (Guigsy and Bonehead) left the group and Noel played their parts on the fourth album. Two new musicians were recruited - Gem Archer and Andy Bell (2) - initially for touring duties, but became full-time and were part of the songwriting process on the following albums.
Each entry in the long-running 33 1/3 series finds a writer delving deep into a notable album, teasing out fresh details from beloved classics or making a case for the unexpected along the way.
