Cozy Powell (Born Colin Trevor Flooks) (29 December 1947 – 5 April 1998) was an English rock drummer, who made his name with many major rock bands and artists like The Jeff Beck Group, Rainbow, Gary Moore, Robert Plant, Brian May, Whitesnake, Emerson, Lake & Powell, and Black Sabbath. Powell had appeared on at least 66 albums, with contributions on many other recordings. Many rock drummers have cited him as a major influence.

Cozy Powell Forever is a tribute album dedicated to the British rock drummer Cozy Powell, who died a few months before the album release. The album was produced by Japanese drummer Munetaka Higuchi, with the contribution of many prominent Japanese rock and metal musicians and of the western musicians Carmine Appice and Tony Franklin

Title: The Polydor Years. Also featured are rare BBC radio sessions the band recorded for Kid Jensen, Janice Long and the legendary John Peel. I have had the Cost Powell album for a few years, but never had the outtakes that are included on this collection, and the addition of the other two albums, which in my opinion are not as good, but still worth having and listening to. All in all this is a very good addition to any collection and comes recommended.

1973 debut "Bedlam" album remains a classic. Powell began his professional music career in 1965 with sorcerers eventually decommissioning work with Jeff Beck after Beck left the Yardbirds in 1971, Powell formed Bedlam, but eventually abandoned this project to produce singles such as "Dance with the Devil" He later imageas Cozy Powell's Hammer, which broke up in 1975 after a brief sabbatical, he joined Rainbow helps to give the.

The late Colin Trevor ‘Cozy’ Powell will always have a special place in this hack’s heart, the drummer being the subject of my first ever professional – and I use the word advisedly – music-journal interview way back in mid-1975. At that time, Powell had just formed a band called Hammer. Collected under the banner The Polydor Years, these are curious curios indeed. With Over The Top (4⁄10), Powell was obviously keen to prove there was more to his playing style than the ‘pow!’ in Powell. It begins with Theme One, the George Martin composition popularised by Van der Graaf Generator, here done in a DoctorWho style, and of prog, classical and jazz influences abound. Tilt (7⁄10) is a far superior, more straightforward offering.
