Lyrics to "Snowbird" song by Anne Murray: Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean The unborn grass lies waiting For its coat to turn to green. The breeze along the river seems to say That he'll only break my heart again Should I decide to stay So, little snowbird Take me with you when you go To that land of gentle breezes Where the peaceful waters flow. Spread your tiny wings and fly away And take the snow back with you Where it came from on that day The one I love forever is untrue And if I could you know that I would Fly away with you.

Snowbird" is a song by the Canadian songwriter Gene MacLellan. Though it has been recorded by many performers (including Bing Crosby, Lynn Anderson, and Elvis Presley), it is best known through Anne Murray's 1969 recording, which-after appearing as an album track in mid-1969-was eventually released as a single in the summer of 1970. Album: This Way Is My Way, 2007. Anne Murray - Snowbird (with lyrics). We are all more capable than we think we are. Now playing

Artist: Anne Murray (Morna Anne Murray). Album: This Is My Way. Advertisements. Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean. The unborn grass lies waiting. For its coat to turn to green. The snowbird sings the song he always sings. And speaks to me of flowers. That will bloom again in spring.

Album: Now And Forever (1970). Murray recorded this after watching its composer, Gene MacLellan, perform it on Canadian TV. It was the second song MacLellan had ever written and he penned it in just 25 minutes. He also recorded it for his own 1970 album, Street Corner Preacher, and included an additional verse: My mind says that I only want to be A wanderer and just like you I'm longing to be free But in my hearth I know it just a lie For without her love the vision of my happiness will die. This was Murray's first hit.
