Tales of Ephidrina is an ambient/techno album by electronica artists Amorphous Androgynous, better known as The Future Sound of London (FSOL), which was released in 1993. It was created from material the pair had been working on around the same time as their ambient FSOL title Lifeforms, while still containing some of the techno feel of Accelerator. In 1996, Mixmag ranked the album at number 27 in its list of the "Best Dance Albums of All Time".
Only for completionists (20%). Tales of Ephidrina' is the first album by AMORPHOUS ANDROGYNOUS, but is by no means the first outing by GARRY COBAIN and BRIAN DOUGANS, the duo behind FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON (famous for their hit 'Papua New Guinea')
Named in displaced reference to a form of speed popular with late-night studio hounds, Tales of Ephidrina is probably the nearest Amorphous Androgynous have come to an even compromise between their ambient and dance pretensions, trading equally between lush, contemplative textures and upbeat, simplistic rhythmic structures.
