As for the Military Symphony, the No. 100 in G major, this is a superior performance, crackling with energy. But be prepared for its very wide dynamic range particularly since, as you know, the symphony includes a good deal of percussion. I quickly realized that I needed to turn the volume control down a notch out of fear that I might blow out a speaker when the Janissary percussion kicked in, and they really DO kick in what with the two-beater bass drum part!
