The Roches is the 1979 eponymous debut album by The Roches, produced by Robert Fripp, who also plays guitar and Fripperies (a variation of his Frippertronics). Also playing on the album are Tony Levin, Larry Fast and Jimmy Maelen of King Crimson and Peter Gabriel fame. The album was well received.

Profile: Female vocal group of three songwriting Irish-American sisters from Park Ridge, New Jersey. The Roches have been active as performers and recording artists since the mid-1970s. Members: Maggie Roche, Suzzy Roche, Terre Roche. Variations: Viewing All The Roches.

Complete your The Roches collection. I found a copy of this record at the Goodwill bins today and found their 'No Trespassing' record at the Salvation Army down the street.

The self-titled 1979 debut album by The Roches made g into music. It became a cult hit, turning Maggie, Terre and Suzzy Roche – New Jersey-raised siblings who embodied both cultural feminism and Greenwich Village boho cool - into sneaker-clad heroines of the folk scene. Self-written songs about pregnancy, work, family tensions, complex love and the feminine mystique gained clarity from the utterly clear, deliberately imperfect harmonies The Roches had mastered singing holiday carols in the street

The Roches (Maggie, Terre, and Suzzy Roche) were a vocal group of three songwriting Irish-American sisters from Park Ridge, New Jersey, known for their "unusual" and "rich" harmonies, quirky lyrics, and casually comedic stage performances. The Roches were active as performers and recording artists from the mid-1970s through 2007, at various times performing as a trio and in pairs.

Having already made a few records in the early '70s, Roche sisters Maggie and Terre - along with younger sibling Suzzy - resumed recording as the Roches in 1979. The group's mischievous and highly original folk blend of barbershop, doo wop, Celtic, and bluegrass styles found its watermark with this eponymous debut, which features the pithy, tongue-in-cheek lyrics of Maggie and Terre. Aided by bassist Tony Levin and guitarist Robert Fripp - who also produced - the trio ranges from the wry resume-in-song opener "We" to the impressionistically feminist closer "Pretty.

I found a copy of this record at the Goodwill bins today and found their 'No Trespassing' record at the Salvation Army down the street. Weird. I didn't purchase the records. I've never heard of this band before and just thought it was odd to find two of their records at 2 different stores about a mile apart. Hmm..
