In Person Friday and Saturday Nights at the Blackhawk is an anomaly. Whereas even acoustic Miles generally recorded live albums in larger and more formal venues, these 1961 performances took place in a nightclub. Packaging for this boxed set consists of two slim double jewel boxes housed in a hard cover outer box.

In my opinion this is Miles best live album because of the selection and consistency of the songs. It is not "Kind of Blue" live, even though the band plays, for example "So what". Mobley, the sax player has a completely different vibe than Coltrane, who is not on this album.
