Freddie Scott (April 24, 1933 – June 4, 2007) was an American soul singer and songwriter. His biggest hits were "Hey, Girl", a top ten US pop hit in 1963, and "Are You Lonely For Me", a n. hit on the R&B chart in early 1967.

One of the sleekest soul senders of the 1960s, Freddie Scott grew a bit rougher as the decade progressed, though his 1966-68 period with New York's Shout Records still find him in fine form. Cry to Me includes 20 tracks, featuring hits like "Are You Lonely for Me Baby" and the title track as well as two previously unreleased tracks.

Freddie Scott (April 24, 1933 - June 4, 2007) was a solo artist who began his career as a songwriter for Colpix Records, along with Carole King and Gerry Goffin. Scott recorded the chart-topping hit "Hey, Girl" and went on to chart a string of other Billboard Hot 100 singles between 1963 and 1971. His 1968 effort "(You) Got What I Need" was sampled for the 1989 Biz Markie hit, "Just a Friend".

This is a masterpiece of Deep Soul. Deep soul belter Freddie Scott, is best remembered for his 1966 R&B chart-topper Are You Lonely for Me. In 1961, he also resumed his recording career, cutting Baby, You’re a Long Time Dead for the Joy label. In 1962, fellow Aldon songwriters Gerry Goffin and Carole King approached him for assistance with Hey Girl, a new tune they hoped to pitch to soul singer Chuck Jackson.
